Self-Introduction 4-koma Manga
I started my blog, Nippon-gurashi, in November 2024 and I have written articles in Japanese, English and Spanish with my husband’s help since then. At the end of 2025, I decided to challenge myself by drawing slice of life manga using the four-panel style called 4-koma manga, which I had been planning to do since before starting my blog. One of the merits of drawing manga is that manga can express things that may be difficult to do by using only text. Besides, 4-koma manga is simple and easy to read even when you feel a little bit tired and do not want to read long sentences.
I feel embarrassed to admit this, but I’m a complete novice when it comes to drawing manga.
I was unsure and wondered “Is it really okay to upload my beginner level manga?” before posting. However, if I wait for my drawing skills to improve, I don’t know how many years it will take. There’s even a possibility that it may take forever. So, I gave up waiting and decided to post the manga I had drawn with the best of my current abilities.
The main theme of my manga is everyday life in Japan. All the episodes are based on my actual daily life. Please note that you might be disappointed if you expect hilarious cartoons. I’ll do my best to provide manga that readers can enjoy while learning Japanese culture or cultural differences.
Before reading the manga posted in this blog, please be sure to keep the following points in mind.
(1) How to Read 4-koma Manga in This Blog
If you have read Japanese manga, you may know the traditional way of reading manga is from top right to bottom left. Please be careful not to read the manga posted in this blog like that because they should be read from top left to bottom right, just like in English.
(2) About the Contents of the Manga and Articles
Due to the limited space of speech bubbles in manga, I sometimes write things like “Japanese people do this” or “American people are like this”, but the contents of the manga and articles on this blog do not apply to all Japanese or Americans. Please understand that this is merely a presentation of my personal experiences and views, and there is no intention of judging people based on nationality or race.
(3) Privacy Policy
There is a privacy policy page containing information about purpose of use of personal information, disclaimers, copyright and etc. Please read this page and agree to the contents before reading the manga on this blog.
